On September 14, 2018, Turkish Airlines and Lega Basket Serie A, signed the highest professional basketball league in Italy, a sponsorship agreement that made the airline an official partner for the 2018/19 LBA season.  Turkish Cargo intends to continue its efforts to increase its interline and spa agreements in order to meet the requirements of its customers in the places where it is a-home and to provide business partners with the best international logistics solutions. On 22 October 2013, Turkish Airlines and Euroleague signed an agreement to renew their existing sponsorship contract for a period of five years until 2020.  With the Interline/SPA agreements, Turkish Cargo is expanding its network area and can serve destinations that are not piloted on their own. Currently, Turkish Cargo has 160 interline agreements and more than 80 spa agreements with other airlines, and this number is increasing by the day. These agreements could allow airlines to serve their customers in the wider sector of the network. A new terminal was opened in January 2000 at Istanbul`s Ataturk Airport. Turkish Airlines continued to expand its international reach and entered into marketing agreements with Asiana Airlines, American Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Czech Airlines and Cathay Pacific in 2000. On 29 October 2000, THY withdrew from Swissair`s Qualiflyer alliance to attract a strategic investor to its privatisation.   The company had been part of the alliance`s loyalty program since November 1998.  An Antalya-Francfort line was added in 2001 by a codeshare agreement with Sun Express. In August 2019, Turkish Airlines agreed with Club Atlético River Plate to become the main sponsor of the Argentine sports club for the next three seasons.
 Through these agreements, Turkish Cargo can also serve sites such as major Australian cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Perth), New Zealand (Auckland), certain destinations in Latin America, Africa and also for many remote locations in the Far East that are not flown by themselves or Turkish Airlines. The internal market was deregulated in 1996, allowing for new planned competition from charter companies. At the same time, major international airlines have competed fiercely on routes to Western Europe. THY has entered into marketing agreements with other international airlines to improve their competitiveness. In 1997 and 1998, the company partnered with Japan Airlines to offer routes to Osaka and Tokyo. Other joint flights soon followed with Austrian Airlines, Swissair and Croatia Airlines.  Make sure you have enough time between flights to complete all formalities and take into account any delays. The company recorded losses in 1987 and 1988, mainly due to large payments for its dozen new Airbus A310s, according to Air Transport World.
The fleet also included 11 Boeing 727s and nine Douglas DC-9s. THY ended the decade with 8,500 employees.  Turkish Technic was stationed at Istanbul Ataturk airport in two hangars. He bought MNG Technic with his hangars, and the main complex moved to SAW with the construction of two new hangars.  Two smaller hangars are also located at Ankara Esenboa Airport. More hangars will be built in Istanbul`s new airport to accommodate the operator`s growing fleet.  Turkish Airlines was the official airline of several European football clubs such as Manchester United, FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Olympique marseille, Aston Villa, FK Sarajevo, and Hanover 96.  THY has not only ordered new aircraft. It planned to spend $350 million on a new technical and training facility at Istanbul`s Sabiha Gokéen International Airport. The airline had set up an important technical service, maintaining not only its aircraft, but also those of third parties.
